Icom America has become Dayton Hamvention’s first ever Platinum Sponsor under the new sponsorship program developed by the 2020 Hamvention Prize Committee. Platinum is the top level which recognizes those who have supported Hamvention with prizes of at least $15,000 for the year.
Elizabeth Klinc, KE8FMJ, chair of the Prize Committee, said, “Thank you to Icom America for taking the lead on this new program and becoming the first ever Platinum Sponsor. Their continued support of Dayton Hamvention and contributions to amateur radio in general is appreciated.”
ICOM has donated a total of 29 radios including an IC-7100, IC-7300 and IC-9700 with a total value of $15,111 to achieve their Platinum status. For many years ICOM has been one of the top contributors to Hamvention, the prize chair said and has also given prizes at its own booth.
The other prize levels and respective donation levels include Gold, $10,000; Silver, $5,000 and Bronze, $1,000. Sponsors will be recognized on the prize website under their level of giving and a sign designating the achieved level will be provided for display at a sponsor’s booth(s) during Hamvention®. Special recognition to these new level sponsors also will be given at the main prize drawing on Sunday.
Hamvention would not have been as successful, Klinc said, without the impressive lists of radios and other prizes donated by Hamvention vendors throughout the years. She thanked all who have donated or plan to donate for their help.
