We are happy to provide media credentials for working journalists who intend to do
stories about Hamvention. We thank you for all the coverage in the past. To submit
a formal request for media credentials please click on the “Media Credentials
Request Form” above, and complete it to obtain media credentials.
If you are unable to provide a copy of press credentials, please provide a way to
verify your position, such as a web address, masthead, letterhead, YouTube or other
social media link, etc. We will send an email confirmation when we receive your
request. Listed below are our procedures for getting media credentials to you when
you arrive at Hamvention.
With the exception of known newspaper, television, or broadcast radio outlets, all
media must reflect the overall theme of ham radio and corresponding influences on
ham radio.
Our committee must be able to confirm your attachment to the blog, Facebook, web
page, magazine, or YouTube site. Likewise, we must be able to confirm that you
have reported on ham radio, or you must show good intentions and reasons that
you will do so in the near future.
Applicants are also informed that Hamvention, through the generosity of many in
the industry, gives away numerous prizes, which may only be won by ticket holders,
So it is advantageous to purchase a ticket in addition to the pass.
If media pass holders enter the grounds the day before the official opening, you
should not attempt to make purchases or otherwise bother and interfere with
vendors as they set up booths and displays.
Hamvention will issue a maximum of two (2) media passes for any online media
outlet, for example YouTube or Facebook. Any exceptions must be approved by the
Hamvention chair.
In the cases where a person requesting a media badge will also be a forum speaker
(thus needing a forum speaker badge), the Media Committee will not issue a media
badge with your name, media name, and/or call sign. If you require media
credentials to interview attendees or vendors, we will provide you with a generic
media badge. If you wish to visit and report on setup on Thursday, you may use this
media badge then too. If you are a media person who has a speaker badge, stop at
the Media office and we will provide a generic media badge at that time.
The Media office is located outside the main pedestrian entrance gate and is clearly
identified with a large Media sign. Media personnel may park in the volunteer-
committee lots, which is accessible from Gate 4. Click here to access map.
